Six new masters join the federation's teaching roster this autumn — a bridge inspector, a heritage plasterer, a toolmaker, two furniture makers and the region's most-booked tiling contractor. Between them: one hundred and forty years at the bench.
Who is teaching what
Marcus Bell takes weld inspection masterclasses. Sofia Marchetti returns with heritage stone. Ruth Aldane continues the famous dovetail intensives, joined this year by toolmaker Samuel Osei, whose sharpening workshop has a waiting list before it is even announced. Evening tiling goes to contractor Dana Whitaker — “the only tutor,” the office notes, “whose students finish early.”
Learn from them
Masterclass calendars open next month, with alumni auditor rates for every session. Evening workshops enrol in January. Come and be humbled, the way every good craftsperson regularly should be.
